If you know me you are aware that i have a small obsession..or shall we call it love for funny and or interesting t-shirts. I already have QUITE the collection and i continue to collect every chance i get. I have become a HUGE fan of a t-shirt website called threadless tees. It's a brilliant site where people sumbit designs for shirts and then people vote and the most popular ones get made. I have a few shirts from their site and there are so many more that i can't wait to own! SO hint hint...if your ever strapped for something to buy me...shop here...it's a sure win. :)

In the key of G, please

So let's rewind a bit.....

I started looking for an apartments about Mayish. Fast forward to June. I hook up with a great realtor who is both very nice and helpful. They are on my wave length with having all their properties online, suited with pictures and full description. Right up my ally. i come across a listing that I need to see. Let's review it....

1 bedroom city apartment

2 floors

private backyard

pets allowed

hardwood floors

HUGE bathroom

offstreet parking

****washer/dryer****

ok sounds good right? I wish i had the pics to show you...they really sold it. Ok next step was to call said realtor and set up a time to go see the apt. Done and done. I meet the lady at the house and we are on our way to the front door when she stops in her tracks and says..."there is no combination box" as to which my response was "huh". Apparently most of the houses they show have combination boxes on the door knobs and the realitor puts a code in and it opens and inside lives the key. Well we looked and looked and as much as i was sure i could find it...it was a no go. Ok...a little annoyed. We have to reschedule. BOO HISS. I take an application with me even though i could not turn it in until i physically saw the inside of the apt. Damn!

i returned to the house 2 days later. ps, this house is not right around the cornor from me. After a long day at work anda joyful ride through rush hour traffic, i'm really looking forward to getting in this house. I meet up with realtor lady who looks none-to-pleased to be returning. She is holding the keys in her hand like a trophy though. She marches right up to the door and inserts the golden key. "oh no" she said.....as to which i reply "oh no?!" The key didn't work.

THE KEY DIDN'T WORK

It fit in the slot but there was no turning and certainly no unlocking. My annoyance now rises to pissedness. They were SO lucky the pics were good cause it was the ony thing that kept me coming back. The lady ofcourse felt horrible and was now determined to make sure that if i liked the apt that I would get it. Damn straight lady. You BETTER! After my 3rd and final visit the key worked but i was equiped with explosives just in case.

Damn was it worth the wait. B-E-A-U-tiful. and did i mention it has a washer and dryer. So i applied and soon after heard that i got it. WOOHOO...the pain in the arse stuff is over and i now have a swank new place to live.

So here we are 3 months later and it is time to move in. I had to postpone my moving in for an event i had to attend this weekend and since monday was a holiday i had to wait til today (tuesday) it was killing me to have to wait this long.

So Quita is all packed up and ready to move my first load of things to the new pad. I get in to work super early in order to get to the realtor to pick up my keys before they close. Not gonna lie i barely made it in time. But i made it...thats all that counts!!! I trek over to the apt jump no...bound out of the car and head for the door keys in hand. i bet you can guess what happened next. Yep....

THE KEY DIDN'T WORK

But this time....not only did it not turn...it didn't even fit. This key was never used and was never meant to be used on this door!!!!! SOOOOO MADDDDDDDD!!!! It is now after hours and i cannot get them to give me the right key. I have to wait til tomorrow, and that sucks. I think this is a bad omen...what do you think? I think perhaps they should give me free moving in service or something...this is craziness. Does this stuff really happen in real life. Yes..Yes it does.

Wish me luck...i'm going to have at it again tomorrow. Oh God please work. :)

Sometimes birds are COOL!!!!!

My Dad has always had a small obsession with his lawn. To the point that we would call him the 'Lawn Ranger' when we were younger. In the past few years he has really made a great hobby out of lawn and gardening. He has been furthering his education and he even has worked it into his job. We all thought he was nuts when he said he was ripping up all the grass in the backyard and making it a garden. It is now a spectical i cannot even describe it is so beautiful. This year we thought he had lost his mind when he was going to rip up his precious front lawn and put in a garden. But man did it turn out to be beautiful. Not only has he gotten recognition from friends and family but now he has gotten recognition from the city. Buffalo in Bloom saw the work he has done and has praised him for it. They took a great pic and put it on their website for all to see. If thats not gratifying i don't know what is. Congrats Dad!!!! All your hard work has paid off!!

We went to the Phillies Mets game last week and watched the phillies kill the Mets 11-4. Really great game. Anywho, we caught a great scene unfold right in front of us and we took full advantage.

Looks like a normal pair of brothers sharing a drink that their father just went to buy them cause they were DYING of thirst.

Then we took a coser look......

As the boys passed this drink back and forth for a good 10 minutes we jsut sat there and died! The parents were sitting right behind them without a second look at to what their maybe 3 and 6 year old were drinking. When we finally stopped taking pictures and laughing our asses off we approached the parents. When we broke the news to the mother she laughed and passed it off as a joke and examined the bottle. OH MY GOD!!! Sure enough they had bought their sons a nice hefty bottle of Mikes Hard Lemonade. When the mom took it away from the boys hoping we would not be calling CPS the younger of the two practically had a small breakdown that he couldn't have it anymore. He knows where it's at!

PS it was a great game anyway...minus the extreme underage drinking. That sounds like a new reality TV show...."EXTREME UNDERAGE DRINKING" :)

I love mother nature..i want to be her friend!

This is a type of squid. It was discovered on a ROV dive in the Gulf of California for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in 2003. Helicocranchia look funny anyway, but this one takes the cake. The MBARI website calls it the Rastafarian, pig-nosed, helicopter-tailed, hippo-squid. Love it!!!

I actually didn't see it coming

It's really not a big shock if i think about it, but i honostly didn't see it coming. He was always Kim Cancilla's favorite and i never understood why. But really who doesn't love a good gay! I'm always in need of a new gay boyfriend. Aplications are now being accepted. :) Perhaps i should get Lance's and see if he fits the criteria. So anywho, how sad. I guess we lose another one to the other side ladies. Oh well. On a good note....HIT IT LOU!! I think i recall you claiming he was on your team in the first place, and for once i will admit that you were right. Enjoy!!!!

It's been one of those weeks....

So it's been quite the week up here in DE. Hence the lack of posts. We are currently working on 2 spills with the possibility of 2 more. 4 spills in one week is not something i am accustomed to. We are rescueing and taking care of birds from a spill here in DE and one in NYC. We are keeping our eye on another spill here in DE and one in GA. Whoa mama!!

It's been a full 7 days of about 16-17 hours a day. Not to mention some ramdom travel to and from NYC thrown in there. So needless to say I AM POOPED! Thank the good lord and all that is holy my vacation is coming up next week. I will be spending the weekend with some of my bestest friends from americorps on cape cod and then off to the family vaca up in muskoka for a week. Life does not get any better than that!! Mama knows i'm gonna need the break after this next week.

Sorry for the lack of photos but i left my camera cord in b-lo trying to soak up all the Maeve i could. I get to see her next week though!!! What a great reward to a crazy 2 weeks. I can't freakin wait!!!!!!!

So the photos i do have for you are of what happens when Sarah brings her dog to work and i need a little nap outside of my office. Don't worry Mom, my boss wasn't around. :)

Happy Farth!!!

I did work on the Farth this year but we were sure to make up for it after work. We went to the bottom of the hill and had ourselves a little cookout and a good time.

Scuba started the night off with a fine performance with the brand new grill

This would be the result of Scuba attempting to start the brandnew grill with lighter after we found out the automatic starter wasn't quite doing the job....mmmm burned hair....my FAV!!!

We smuggled in some sparklers and poor Merri dog didn't understand why she couldn't eat them

We did actually get to see real fireworks and they were great!!! Remember when i hated fireworks and i would scream and cry and embarrass my family. Yeah that was awsome!
