Done and done

So we have finally come to an end with the story of Martha the eagle. She was released last week by our vet Dr. Miller and it went really well. The Washington Post did a small piece on her capture and release. It's an interesting viseo to watch. The beginning is poor injured Martha being pulled out of the water after she tumbled to the ground after having the crap being beat out of her and the last part is Dr. Miller releasing her back into the wild. Watch closely when Dr. Miller is about to open the cage. Martha jumps and literally scares the ba-jesus out of poor Dr. Miller. It's priceless. I don't blame her for jumping...Martha is a big strong girl!!!

Stop sleeping with your chickens!

I know i've talked about the damn bird flu before, but now that ABC put out that stupid ass movie about the bird influenza pandemic there are some new information links that are helpful. I apologize if you saw the ABC movie last night. That is an absolute WORST case scenario. We are trying to stay very on top of the media here at Tri-State and now this movie is going to just make our job that much harder. Don't be afraid to help injured birds. The threat to humans isn't here yet. I feel there are going to be a lot of birds that are going to suffer this year because the media has really scared the public about avian flu. Here is a SUPER helpful link about bird flu. Look at it, read it, believe it. Ino ino....saving injured birds is not on the top of your to do list these days, but don't ignore them on the premis of the flu. If you choose not to save an injured bird the only excuses i will accept are you don't like them or you are afraid of them. :)

I had a whirlwind of a weekend this week. I traveled to my homeland of Buffalo, NY for a few very specific reasons. I had a wedding shower to attend and I had a pregnant sister that i NEEDED to see. I barely had enough time to fit in meals and showers but i did find time to attend Musicalfare's latest production. This wonderful little show is titled Urinetown. Yes you read correctly...the word "urine" is in the title.

I didn't know much about the show. I was familiar with the soundtrack but that didn't give me the whole picture. The premis is about a town with a diminishing water table and everyone has to pay to pee. Yep pee. Now for those of you who know me this show it RIGHT up my ally of comedy. Something I didn't realize about this show is that it is also a parody about musicals. Which in my opinion is brilliant.

Anywho, i'm not going to give away the ending or anything but it was hilarious. Now, I am slightly biased because i knew 98% of the cast. Even if i didn't know these folks it would have been just as enjoyable. But I do have to say it was a little added bonus that my close friends were on the stage making me laugh my face off. I was a proper audience member and used my big girl laugh and made sure my presence was known. I was slightly upstaged by my mother, who you should know has a volume control issue. But it's all good, she was politely named the "other" laugher in the audience by the cast. Very funny!

Kudos to the entire cast and crew. Between the set, music, acting, singing, lighting etc etc, i was thoroughly entertained and couldn't ask for anything more in a show. Thanks for a wonderful show guys and enjoy your last week of production.

Sorry kids this weekend is the closing weekend, and i suggest calling in for tickets immediatly cause i think they already are 99% sold out. But don't be discouraged...call anyway!

Finally!!!!

I know it's hard to believe but i get distracted VERY easily. I LURVE (as esther would say) my job! I really do, but sometimes sitting at my desk is just a little too much for me. I have become determined to find good online radio. I have had suggestions from some and they have all been stellar choices, but i still have not found the one that suits all my music needs. Well folks...stop the presses I have found it. I came across Accuradio. It has a gagillion channels of all different flavors and styles. Who needs satellite radio when there is free online radio!!!!! So for all you desk workers who just can't stand the clickity click of the keyboard as your daily symphony, i recommend accuradio it's much more pleasant.

Need a little pick-me-up?

As some of you may know i enjoy a little TV here and there. Just a little. Soooo picture it....it's friday afternoon 2:30ish. I can't leave work for another 2 1/2 hours. I'm sufficiently antsy and can't bear to look at anything else that pertains to work for at least the next 15 minutes. How does one pass the time? I was poking around the Comedy Central site and came across Drawn Together. This is a cartoon that will make you fall on the ground and laugh your face off. I love it. It can be a little racey at times...so mom i don't recommend it for you...but otherwise it's brilliant. So what did i do for my wonderful 15 min of procrastination this afternoon? I rewatched the majority of season 2 of this hilarious series. It was painful to muffle the laughs in my office without giving away that i was doing nothing pertaining to birds OR oil spill!! Enjoy and go there often...it will bring your spirits right quick!

Seriously??!!?!?!?!

Please don't even get me started on these people. These are Fairy penguins. They are primarily found in Australia. Certain people swear by these damn sweaters, that during an oil spill, they will keep the birds warm and keep them from ingesting the oil that is on their feathers. Yes, good thought because hypothermia and oil ingestion IS an issue when it comes to oiled birds BUT something you don't want to increase any more in a bird during a spill is STRESS. I bet these poor little penguins just LOVE being dressed and undressed like a freakin cabbage patch doll. These poor honey's...i truly feel bad for them. Granted this is just my opinion but i feel very strongly about it. And ps, who the HELL has enough time on their hands to sit down and say...hmmmmm...i think i'm going to make penguin sweaters today.
