Gettin the heck outta Dodge...er...Delaware

Okey Dokey

Well it's Tuesday. Not just any Tuesday. It's the Tuesday before the Friday that i have to be ready to move my life back home to good 'ole Buffalo. As some of you may know I am an experienced mover. And by experienced i mean i have moved about 15 times since i was 18. Oh bessie! One would think that at this point i would have this whole packing/organizing thing down. Oh how wrong you are! I hate packing...i despise packing. Finding the right box and wrapping things carefully and playing Jenga with the moving truck and making all the pieces fit. BLECH! I much prefer the unpack. I enjoy finding new homes for things and opening boxes like it's christmas. Needless to say, my packing is not as on schedule as I had hoped but it will all be done. I work very well under packing pressure and man, is the pressure on!

This is what I wish i could do. Not necessarily the boat part but the moving the whole house part. It would make everything soooooooooo much easier!

I know this is what my house should look like at this point......

but this is what it feels like at the moment.

I have complete faith that everything will go smoothly. The move is happening this weekend whether i like it or not. I'm bringing in an out of state expert team to help me complete the final step of this moving process. This is a team of professionals. They single handedly moved across NY state, unpacked, pack back up and brought it all back the very next week later. If thats not talent i don't know what is!!! So i put in my request a long time ago and I was lucky enough to be able to book them just in time for the big move.

Ladies and gentlemen....i present to you....

TEAM GARVEY!!!!!!!!

What is a team without its captain? I'm bringing in Mike Garvey to lead this team of professionals. His resume was pretty impressive I would be a fool not to trust this mans expertise in this field. His management strategy and impressive list of higher education degrees made him a perfect choice to run this show.

Second in command we have Louis Garvey. Lou was an obvious choice for the team. With his incredible strength and brilliant moving truck maneuverability, he is a valuable assest to this project.

Lisa Garvey is the usual 3rd part to this team. Unfortunatly due to some health concerns, she will be unable to do any of the heavy work that she is used to. She will play the role of cheerleader and ice-tea maker. If all goes well, we might be able to get a Swiffer in her hands unless the dust-bunnies get too rowdy. In that case, she will need to stick to the ice-tea.

And last.....but CERTAINLY not least, we have Katie "chainsaw" Battaglia. She may not be a Garvey but she in an incredibly imortant part of this team. She will hang up her chaps and helmet for the day and put on her weight belt and pick up the slack that Lisa will be unable to attend to. She anticipates a smooth move and wishes her team all the luck in their current challenge.

So there you have it kids. Wish us luck, and i don't think i am going to have time to write before the game begins on friday. So peace out for now and I'll see you when i get home. B-lo Style!

Please pass the Aquanet...

You how sometimes you wake up in the morning with the WIERDEST songs in your head. Well today was one of those mornings. I woke up with...wait for it...the "Mr. Bucket" theme song in my head. Most of you are probably not familiar with this song but it is a late 80's early 90's game that had the most ridiculous theme song on its commercial. I felt i needed to blog it today so everyone can suffer with me and have this song stuck in their head. As i was searching for this video i came across some other 80's classic commercials that i felt we all should have a chuckle over. Let us not forget that at the time these aired...everything in these 30 second spots were totally normal...hair, clothes, slang, etc. Enjoy, and just try to not get one of these songs stuck in your head...for..daaaays!

Birth of a Hummingbird

This is freaking amazing (well to me anyway). Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the bottom of each page; there are 5 pages in all. A lady found a hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. Took 24 days from birth to flight. This is something that is sooooooooo rare to document, enjoy your chance to be one of the few who will ever get to see it first hand.

I know i know....bird-nerd to the rescue post...but seriously, i bet you will think this is cool too. The last pic is my fav...getting to see how big the nest actually is. AMAZONG!!! (yep i just mis-typed amazOng...and i'm not going to fix it...i love these pictures that much!)

Merry Almost Hump Day

When i was little and it was around christmas time i would wait and wait and wait for the JCPenny catalog to arrive. I woud RUN into the living room with my little strips of scrap paper and turn directly to the toy section and begin to bookmark everything i "needed" that year. I thought it was ridiculous that i would have to write a list for santa when I had already marked all my necessities in the catalog. Why couldn't i just send him the catalog, it would be double my work to rewrite everything. Nonsense.

Needless to say I grew out of the JCPenny catalog bookmarking and making lists for Santa. Not because i didn't want to do it anymore but becuase i was too "old" for such things. I am happy to say that I am now older and wiser and have discovered the most brilliant thing ever. I owe this discovery to my fabulous brother-in-law Mikey. He introduced me to the wish list feature on Amazon.com.

So if anyone gets stumped in buying me the coolest gift ever...i got you covered. :)

Oh and in-case you recently crashed your hard drive like i did (twice) i turn 27 in 100 days. Oh and did i mention that i will be in town for this one for the first time in god only knows how long. :) WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delayed Meme

I was tagged by my dear friend Michael Walline a while ago and i am finally getting to it. It was really hard to think of 8 things about you that most people don't know or that you don't want them to know. So this is me giving it a shot.
  • When i was 8ish and in Brownies, i learned the alphabet in Sign language. I was obsessed with it. I would finger spell everything...ALL THE TIME. I would try to be descrete, and keep my hands at my side or in my lap. When my mother finally noticed that my fingers were constantly moving in odd ways, she told me i looked like i had some sort of a disorder! I'm not going to lie i still do it...but i'm much better at hiding it!
  • My mom is a Physical Therapist. When i was little i would bring ALL of my dolls and stuffed animals out and instead of playing house or some similar childs imaginary game...i would do physical therapy on them and help them "walk". I was a special kid. :)
  • I have always wanted to be a dancer! It facinates me and i think it is the most incredible thing for people to move in such a beautiful way.
  • I usually only drive with my left hand and i shove my other hand under my right leg. Don't ask why...i just do. But as it turns out i have worn a spot out in my dirvers seat from sitting on my right hand all this time.
  • My least favorite word in the whole wide world is "underpants". I hate saying it, hearing it, and typing it. It's the worst!!!!
  • I hate gum. Never liked it. I used to gag when i was little and people were chewing it around me. I'm much better now but i still hate it. I much prefer an altoid.
  • I have physically moved 13 times since i was 17 yrs old. This entails moving to a new place to live with all my crap! This does not include my upcoming move back to b-lo. OY!
  • I am a very tactile person. I touch everything. When i go to a clothing store i touch everything and it drives my sister nuts! I can't help it I want to know what everything feels like. I don't think this is a disorder. :)

Catching up

So i'm back in the office and ready to tell you about my trip to Cali. We had a blast. There was some work thrown in there but as you see from the pictures, we had a good time.

This was the view from the deck of the hotel.....The weather was like this EVERYDAY!

We got to stay in a fancy dancy hotel.....feather beds and all

Sarah kicked things off by kissing the sea lion for good luck...not that we needed it

This is the vew from the top deck at the hotel....did i mention it was beautiful

Yes that is Betty White and no i did not get her autograph or thank her for being a friend. She was the guest speaker that kicked off the conference. She is about 195 and the cutest damn thing EVER!!!!! She left right after she spoke not giving me the chance to tackle her and get a better picture.

We had a great opportunity to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium after hours and enjoy a strolling banquet. There was incredible food and you got to tour the aquarium at your leisure without the crowds. So cool!!!! OH and no this is not a seagull....this is an Albatross! The closest i will ever be to this UBER cool bird!

Another great view of the Bay

Some really great flowers....just for you Dad.

More flowers

This is the before pic of Sarah and I. This was before we shoved off and went on a boat trip with some researchers to do some night capture of Seabirds. I say this is the before picture, because shortly after this our boat was navigating 15ft ocean swells....I'm working on getting the video of us experiencing these huge ass waves. It's hilarious!!!!

This last picture was on the flight back to DE. As we were flying over Utah or some similar state that falls between California and Texas i looked out the window and saw this...i don't know about you but i think the name of this town should be "Pie Chart Town". If anyone knows what these actually are...don't tell me....i would like to remain calling this place "Pie chart town".

From beginning to end we had a great trip!!!!
