Why am I annoyed?...

It's Friday night....

Here I sit in my new living room.....

I am entering the last week of classes of my Grad school career...

I'm sitting on the couch pounding away at 1 of 7 projects due next week.....

Emeril came on TV...

I don't really care for Emeril....

I'm putting up with it...

I'm too lazy to get up to get the remote to change it....

He just put garlic into the pan....

The audience exploded with applause, whistling and general craziness....

What did i miss?

I'm still sitting here...

He's cooking his second dish of the night...

He has mentioned garlic 4 times...

The audience exploded with excitement...

EVERY...

SINGLE...

TIME...

I don't know why i'm so annoyed by these people's reaction to the garlic....

Hold on...

Let's perform an experiement...

OREGANO!

Did you pee yourself with excitment?

Stupid remote across the room......

Somebody's gettin' Married!!

I'm a little late on the posting of the engagment but it's a long one. I just wanted to make sure I got it right. :)

Ready.......GO!!!!

We were on vacation in Marble Head Ohio with Dan's family. On our first day there, Dan started the day off with a nice boat ride, we went and got a couples massage and were going to round out the evening with dinner at one of the local wineries. You would think after all this goodness I would have a clue. Nope...not even one.

We had dinner reservations at the winery 4pm (also should have been a clue, what are we 80 eating at 4pm?). We arrived at ten minutes to 4. Dan "decides" we should do wine tasting before dinner. Wine tasting in a matter of 10 minutes is not my idea of wine tasting but i humor him and go a long with the decision. Did i mention i was starving, because i was saving myself for a nice 4pm meal. We wine tasted in record speed. Why? #1 We had dinner reservations in 10 minutes, #2 I hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast and full blown wine tasting would have made me a stumbling moron and #3 I-was-STARVING!

I moved along the tasting and got us all wrapped up and ready to go in time for our dinner reservation. I decided i liked 3 of the wines we tasted and purchased them. The nice man behind the desk told me i couldn't take my bottles into the dining room. Merrrrrrr....fine. I moved things right a long and grabbed Dan's keys and took the wine out to the car.

Meanwhile.....Dan and John (guy who worked there) took this opportunity to run down to the wine cellar and set up the champagne and video camera for the proposal.

I return to the restaurant lobby to find Dan and John coming out from the staff only area...clue #2 i failed to pick up on. John proceeds to tell me that our table was not ready yet and if we were interested we could go on a short wine tour. Cue me looking into their dining room and seeing every...single....table....OPEN. At this point I am not thinking that this is a shady situation...i was thinking....THERE IS NO ONE IN THERE WHY CAN'T WE EAT NOW. I am one classy broad who apparently can think of nothing else but food. Awsome.

Needless to say I agreed to the tour. John led us into the kitchen past the staff bathrooms and down a sketchy set of basement stairs. Where in God's name are we GOING! John leads us into a storage room...a STORAGE room...and claims he forgot his "tour script". Again...i'm still not seeing the shadiness...i'm just annoyed we now have to wait longer to eat. (i think i need a support group) :)

Dan and I wander into the next room, which by the way is beautiful. It is a huge room with stone walls and an incredible stone ceiling. The lighting was low and romantic and guess what I still didn't get it. I wandered over to what looked to be a well in the ground with pretty lighting around it. I look down and there are amazing racks full of ancient wine bottles. Very cool. I was completely oblivious to the table 6 ft from me with champagne, candles and champagne flutes. OBLIVIOUS. Dan clearly had enough of me being oblivous and pointed out the table to me. I did not give it a second thought and assumed it was set up for an event later or was just part of the tour. Dan requests I take a closer look at the table. I humor him....and my eyes stumble upon the champagne flutes....

There it was plain as day, "Katie and Dan - August 3, 2008"

**Click**

In my confused daze i turn to Dan who is already on his knee reaching for the ring in his pocket. I remember looking at him and i remember him trying to put the ring on my finger, but i heard not a word he said....that voice in my head again. "HE'S ASKING YOU TO MARRY HIM!!!!!" The best part...Dan doesn't remember what he said either. I do remember saying yes, and i remember chugging the glass of champagne Dan handed me. I cried my face off and cursed Dan when he told me he was getting it all on film. We ventured up to the dining room and guess what....i wasn't hungry anymore. :)

Here's the video if you choose to see my obliviousness and my blubbering. WEE!!!
Feel free to fast forward the empty room from 1:45-3:40. It was a very echoy room so you can't really hear too much but there are a few choice things you can hear. Fun stuff!!!

PS....Dan has been planning this since Februrary. He may or may not be my favorite person. :)

"Petaling" for a Purpose

Ok so no Dan will not be putting on a tutu and carrying a little wand but he WILL be Riding for Roswell on June 28th. He and a few of his family members will be riding for an incredible cause. AND yes i wrote "petaling", their logo is a bike with a big flowers where the spokes go with a name of someone who has fought for their life on each "petal", pretty cool. Check out his blog and his "Petaling for a Purpose" page and throw him a few bucks if you can...it will be well worth it...i promise!!!!

Summer is soooo close!

Maybe it'll get higher than 70 soon...I think it has to be in order to legally enter the month of June. :)

Monday, May 19, 2008

i spoke too soon

I finished the spring semester with a 4.0, and damn i was excited. Excited to be done with the semester from hell, excited to have done well, excited to start a much calmer summer. This summer i will only be taking 4 classes over the course of two sessions. 2 in the first session and 2 in the second which is a huge break from the 7 i took in the spring semester. I knew it was going to be a little bit of juggling with work and school but i wasn't worried..i have been through much worse.

Well.....i had my first class today. For tomorrow i have to read 100 pgs and do a 5 page paper.

Summer was nice while it lasted. :)

I'm hanging out at Millard Gates today while Dan has his surgery. Back surgery that is. I don't envy him one bit, but my stay here at the hospital has been made a little nicer when i turned on my laptop (cause why would i leave home without it) and found Gates has free wifi. God bless America i say. So here i sit. I will give a healthy update when all is said and done. Peace out kiddies. Maybe i'll take a nap since we had to be here at 6am. Merrrrrrrrrrrr.

"Happiness is Lake Erie"

I was so productive recently i can't even stand it. I live in an incredible that is ENORMOUS in size with exception of the bedrooms and i have A LOT of stuff. Needless to say i have a lot of things to fit in a little room. This past week i have had enough. I moved my bedroom furniture around to be alittle more space conscious. That helped. Then i decided i needed to also clean out my closet and dressers. I had a VERY hard time deciding what to get rid of..but i knew i HAD to get rid of something. I made up some criteria.

Throw away/give to goodwill if:

- it has not been worn in over a year
- i realisitcally will not fit into it again
- there are holes in it
- If it belonged to someone else i would make fun of them

So given those criteria, i filled 5 garbage bags to the brim and another bag with 11 pairs of shoes. 'Funnily' enough the point of this post was not to discuss the amount of crap clothes i got rid of. It was supposed to be about the incredibely hard decision i had to make today.

I was faced with getting rid of some of my favorite funny t-shirts. It was time to say goodbye to the oldies and make room for some hilarious new ones that i have aquired.

So please.....a moment of silence for:

"Ewe's not fat, ewe's fluffy"
"Happiness is Lake Erie"
"Somebirdy loves you"
"Diet Coke; because i love it, not because i need it"

And some of the newbies I have welcomed:

"in case of an emergency, breakdance"
"Sublimi'mawesomeinal"
"Haikus are easy;sometimes the don't make sense;refridgerator"
"Let's hug it out"

Soooo there you have it...change is good right? right. Tomorrow i will say my final goodbye when i drop everything off at the Goodwill. So if you see someone around with a worn green shirt that says "Happiness is Lake Erie" think of me...and if your ballsy ask them where they got it. :)

TV topics

I love TV. I love everything about TV. There are not many shows on that i cannot watch. I do not descriminate between the scripted and nonscripted varieties. They both have their ups and downs. I would keep you all here for days and days and days if i listed all of the shows that tickled my interest. There are far too many. Instead i am going to show you how my all time favorite show relates to my life. "Friends" by far is my all time favorite show. I have seen every episode at least 3 times. It is one of those shows that i may or may not know most of the dialogue for. I use annoying lines from the show often that people don't understand. I am THAT girl. See below for just a snipit of how this tv show relates to my life. If you do not know me that well you will now know something that i feel very strongly about. Enjoy!!!

See you all tomorrow for my last bopofomofosho post...WEEEEE!!!!!

Things you never wanted to know...

What is your favorite word? I've had to watch my mouth lately with all this teaching business, what frequents my mouth most these days is "Holy crap on a stick batman". yep.

What is your least favorite word? Hands down....Underpants. I can't talk about it anymore.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? This list could be endless. In short...... Creatively: a beautiful voice. Spiritually: Faith. Emotionally: Knowing i have the most incredible support system anyone could ever ask for.

What turns you off? Stupidity

What sound or noise do you love? Turning off the light before bed.

What sound or noise do you hate? My alarmclock

What profession other than your own would you attempt? I would give my life to be a fill-time performer/singer. Dream a little dream.

What profession would you not like to do? Anything having to do with math or numbers in general.

What is your favorite curse word? Nothing quite gives the emphasis the f* word gives.

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say whn you arrived at the Pearly Gates? Did you HAVE to take your shoes off in church at Lisa's wedding...seriously?

Bufblopofo poll

I need you. Yes YOU! Here at 190 Lancaster we are at a stand still. It's about the dishwasher post i put up the other day. We all have clear views of the proper way to do the dishwasher and we figured the only way to resolve it was to open the floor and involve the people who know the most about life. And you my friends are those people. We the people of the blog world have a unique role in this world, to judge and to be judged. So please do your best and help the poor folks of 190 Lancaster...we need clean dishes and it is not going to get done until this issue has been laid to rest. Please review these questions and post answers as you see fit. I will publicize the results when all the data has been collected.

#1-Silverwear: Which way does it go in? Pointy things up or down? Or a mixture of both?

#2-Rinsing: To what extent do you rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher?

#3-Loading: Better to pack tightly or leave room for the Holy Spirit?

Please for the sake of clean dishes and lack of salmonella poisoning, please let me know what your thoughts are on this issue, as soon as you are available to do so. Thank you.

-The Management-

I'm about to be very embarrassed

I'm sorry i am a day behind in bufpobomofosho, and i could give you 900 reasons why....but i won't. So today my topic is my music. I'm going to fire up my music player and get some randomization going. Please reserve your judgement until the end. I could look totally cool or i could look like the biggest loser 27 yr old ever!

Here goes...

"It takes two" Marvin Gaye and Kim Westin (an ok start)
"One flight down" Norah Roberts (i want to be norah)
"Beautiful disaster" acoustic version Kelly Clarkson (I lied i want to be Kelly more)
"Everytime" Britney Spears (let the embarrassment begin)
"In my own eyes' Brandi Carlile (at the moment my fav artist, get her music..it's amazing)
"Glory" Pippin (i have a little thing for musicals)
"Follow if you lead" Idina Menzel (killer broadway singer...crappy ass regular music singer)
"That lonesome road" Acapella version Dixie chicks (i double puffy heart this version)
"Serious" Legally Blonde (ok maybe i like musicals a lot)
"Mr. Moon" OAR (best chill music band ever..EVER!)
"Next year baby" Jamie Cullum (michael bubble meets james blunt..i adore him)
"The reason" Hooberstank (best band name ever)
"Divas Lament" Spamalot (yes more broadway...but more so...it's sara remirez...i want to be her most....who doesn't want to be a hot othopedic surgeon on Grey's and have the most killer broadway voice EVER)
"Lovology" Regina spektor (super quirky but i love her)
"LBJ" Hair (musicalicious)
"I want to break free" Queen (there is a special place in my heart for Queen)
"In between trees" jack johnson ( Need to relax....put jack on...it's all good)
"I got life" Hair (I still like musicals...ok i love them a little)
"Oh Bless the lord my soul" Godspell (awsome...a catholic musical...i am the coolest person ever!)
and last but CERTIANLY not least.......ready?
"As long as you love me" the illustrious.....Backstreet Boys

Wow I know how to pick 'em don't I? There you have i...a little look into my crazy brain and the music that motivates me. Night kids...see y'all tommorrow..have i ever mentioned that i hate Mondays. It's a day when i go 8am to 8pm....and then i get to do homework. POOP! I'll write late tomorrow but i promise to get to it. nighty night!

Need somthing?

What is in my purse? The question should be exactly the opposite. I have everything. Seriously. I like to be prepared for all situations, i'm not a fan of being in need of something essential when i am out and about. Here are some situations that may come up in the course of the day that i can assist with:

Headache? I got you covered. Is Aleve ok?

Need to write something down? I'm on it. I even have waterproof paper to write on...don't ask.

Need a femanine hygiene product? I don't charge a quarter.

Too sunny outside? I carry an extra pair of stylish sunglasses.

Low blood sugar? Is a granola bar ok?

Something funny happen? Let's capture that on film (or digital disk space, film-shmilm).

AAA battery? I'm on it.

Allergies bothering you (or anything else for that matter)? I am a traveling Pharmacy.

Headphones crap out on you? Make sure you give them back.

Ok so looking back, i'm not sure why i have any friends. I am NUTS...who carries this shit? NOBODY!!!! Oh wait you know who might carry some of this stuff? Someone who is
C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!! I'm going to go rock in the corner now. I think i need professional help. Anyone have a suggestion?

See you tomorrow kiddos!

I knew she was too good to be true!!!!

So this post is supposed to be about my child-hood toys and how they relate to me now...Let's get this out of the way...no i did not play "Let's sign to the Deaf bird". I saw an article today that just about knocked me out of my chair. Please examine below a popular toy from this christmas season and make note of the character on it that we all know and love. I will give you a second to look this over:

HMMMMMMMMMMM....thoughts?
Anyone?

Do i need to be the one to say it. Do I?! I shit you not this IS a real toy...not only is it real but there it a Boots and Swiper version AND a serious of Spongebob characters as well. Someone was having fun in the toy design room this day. I knew there was something not right about that Dora chick. I know she is famous with the little ones, and all along i just accepted it and tried not to pass too much judgment. Well that time has passed. I am judging.

So i had trouble believing this toy was the real deal. But then i came across some pretty identifiable evidence that convinced me of it's authenticity.

In conclussion........Seriously?

I'm not going to lie...it is pretty damn funny. :)

You are wrong and I am right....

This is usually the case on all occassions. Not really but i would like to think so. Something that drives me batty but that i don't like to do in general is the dishwasher.

Thing one: It drives me nutswhen people don't maximize the space, and organize things accordingly. Throwing the dishes in haphazzardly only leads to unnecessary running of the dishwasher and a huge waste of water and time. Also please...no over loading...this causes poor washing and need for a second run...nobody likes the second run.

Thing two: I also am an avid non-rinser-off-er. In my opinion the dishwasher does the dishes for you...just my opinion. Ok the occassional crusty pan and what not require rinsing but otherwise no need..i promise it will wash the dish for you.

Thing three: Silverwear...forks, spoons and butterknives go in handle down and sharp knives go pointy side down....the reason for this...i don't know...it's just the way it should be in the Life According to Katie.

Thing four: I hate doing dishes and this includes the dishwasher. This post does not mean that i prefer to be the dishwasher do-er...it just is stating the way in which i think it is rightly done.

And the Oscar goes to........

I know Mikey said this was going to be an easy blogging topic...i didn't find it that easy. Filling my shoes is a big role...and finding that right actor is tricky.
My picks:
Lauren Graham or Megan Mullally
I adore them both and i think they would pley me brilliantly!!!
Ok i have a 5 page paper due tomorrow...i'm gonna go start that now...ok mother nature, get on that ice storm i want the day off tomorrow...WEEEEEEEEEE!

Oh happy day...

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........the topic at hand:

"What went right today"

I really thought i was going to have to work at this one. I have been kinda down lately...who knows why...maybe the dragged out winter...crazy schedule...lack of tv time...who knows? Anywho...I had a good day today. A noticably good day.

So here goes:

  • I got up on time to get out of the house on time...and i didn't have to rush

  • No coat today...it was in the 50's

  • The sun was warm and shining...not a cloud in the sky

  • Got to work ontime

  • Had a light day at work with time get ahead a little

  • Got out of work ontime

  • Got to school with time to spare in order to do the homework (ino ino...slacker)

  • Got out of class ontime to go get food before marathon classes

  • Tutored my usually crabby impossible student and he was pleasent

  • My tutoring student sneezed and he said "God Bless youme" (Hysterical)

  • I got a parking spot right in front of the door at school

Tis a gift to be simple......

So here I am at 11:21 on day 2 of our blogging venture and i am stumped. Todays topic of choice is the best gift you ever received. Damn thats hard....REALLY hard. There have been so many gift recieving events in my life how does one choose. And it's not that i am afraid i will offend someone by not choosing a gift that they gave me at some point....i really just don't know. I could rattle off several winners some of which are a latch-hook, a burping cabbage patch doll, piano lessons, pooping pigs, and flat screen tv's...... the possiblities are endless.

So i'm going to talk about the gift giving process instead. I love getting gifts. Who doesn't? And if you are one of those people who doesn't....well then shit...you are ungrateful and should just give all of your gifts to me. I also love giving gifts. I love that whoever i am giving a gift to is possibly feeling the same excitment that i feel when i get a gift. So cool. But seriously....even though i love getting gifts...i hate opening them. Not necessarily in general but in front of people...especially those who are the actual gift givers. I am afraid then when i open the unknown package i will not give them the response of excitement that they expected and are looking for. I don't know about you but as someone opens a gift i give them the general reaction i am looking for is something like this:

Now i'm not expecting you to run into walls or anything and i don't want you to fake your excitment either.... i want natual uncontrollable happiness. So in turn i feel the pressure when i am in the hot seat and opening said gifts. And this doesn't even touch the fact that i may not like the gift. Everyone has a nice face. The face you put on when you are politely laughing at someones joke, or pretending to be interested in what they are talking about, and especially when you open a bad gift. This is the typical scenario:

Kt: (opens gift with slight look of puzzlement)

Gift giver: It's a salad shooter!!!

Kt: I KNOW!!!!!! How cool!!

Gift giver: I saw you had a salad for lunch the other day and thought you would like it.

KT: (thinking of some witty and grateful to say) I can't wait to use it!!!! I love it when my carrots are cut proportional!!!!! (ASSHOLE!!!)

Gift giver: I know!!!!

SO Now do you see why i stress? Gift recieving can be very taxing on ones mind. So the moral of this post? Buy me stuff...i love stuff, and even if i don't i PROMISE i will come up with a reason why i might like it. Need some help? No worries...i got you covered. See you tomorrow!

Readyyyyy..........GO!

Let the games begin kids! Let me just start off by saying i have VERY high hopes for myself that i am going to make it through this whole challenge and post everyday.....i said it....EVERYDAY. Wanna know why i'm a little nervous? Funnily (totally a word) enough it's not because of my ridiculous schedule (working 20+ hours and taking 8 classes a week). I usually have barely enough time to blow my nose...but that's not the reason why i'm nervous about being able to have time to post. I'm nervous because i am WAY to distracted reading everyone elses blogs. Let's do some quick math, there is a possibility that there will be 19 new blogs everyday....EVERYDAY. On an average blog i spend between 1-5 minutes reading them. Why you ask? Because shiny things distract me and I have the attention span of a sea monkey. It is also very well known that i am a blog stalker. I check all blogs daily...i do, and this is only to support my need to procrastinate as much as possible. So for the next 2 weeks roughly i could be spending up to 95 minutes a day reading blogs. 95 MINUTES! Do you know how much school work i could get done in 95 minutes. Even better.....665 minutes a week! That is music to this procrastinators ear. This was a brilliant idea Mikey i can't wait to spend the majority of my week keeping up with everyones life and trying to keep up my end of the bargin and make sure i give everyone something worth procrastinating for a few minutes of their day.

So the meat of this post is supposed to be about why i started a blog. I'm not sure if anyone knew this but i spend some time in Delaware. When i left I had entirely too many cool things to talk about and no one to tell them to. So i took the advice of many and started prettybirds. I'm also not sure if anyone knows this but i also like birds. Not in a creepy cat-lady sort of way, but in a it's cool when they break themselves and i get to fix it sort of way. :)

Ok kiddies....talk to you tommorrow...no seriously...i will...i promise...this time i mean it...ok who am i kidding i'll see you in 2 weeks when i come out of my cave from reading all your blogs.)

Happy V-day!!!!!

I really don't have anything Valetine-y to talk about today, but i felt it very necessary to share something. I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else but i frequently wake up in the morning with a song in my head. This morning it was "The Right Stuff" a little old school NKOTB. Thats all, I have serious problems.
Have a great V-day!!!!!!!!

Do you hear what i hear?

Being in the field that i am now i heard about this commerical about 600 times before today. It played during the pre-game, and is a full 60 seconds of silence. I was REALLY excited to see it that i made Dan DVR the whole (5hr) pre-game show. He must reeeaaallly like me. :) So anywho it's a funny commercial if you understand it...apparently this is a long-time running joke in the Deaf community. I'm interested to see if people understand it. They are totally making fun of themselves and i think it's brilliant. Enjoy!!!!

What do you think?

Snow....errrr Wind day!

I'm sitting on my couch deciding how productive i actually want to be today...let's be honost i don't want to do a whole lot of anything...but my stupid anxiety bug tells me to get going on my work and lessen the hair i will loss at the end of the year when i have more work to do than i can stand.

My mother has always hated the wind...i don't usually mind it...but today is the exception. I live in what looks to be a very stable two family home. The house is not only shaking...it's swaying!!! What is that about?! So just for today mom...i also hate the wind. So there.

So for those of you who have off today due to dear mother nature...enjoy!! Try not to blow away...i don't want to have leave the safe haven of my swaying house to find any of you hangingon for dear life to a telephone pole as you are horizontally oriented from the 60 mph winds. For those of you who had to work today...i am sorry for you all. :)
