Without ME it's just AWESO.....

One year ago today actually i wrote about this. I was doing some spring cleaning and had to make the VERY hard decision to get rid of some of my fav t-shirts. I love me a funny t-shirt.

i can't sport the funny t-shirts as much as I used too...apparently as a teacher it is not completely acceptable if i wear a t-shirt that says "Cake is Awesome!". Whatever.
Here are a few shirts I currently want......ps my birthday is in october... :)

and finally.....my current favorite!

This one's for the children..

Child raising advice.....

ok no children for me yet but from my experience with them in life and in teaching...here is my advice..

Patience is a virtue....having children will grant you saint-hood if you maintain your patience :)

Support your children...emotionally, physically, monetarily

Push your children...to do better, to work harder, to give everything they've got

Know your children...as much as they will let you

Show them everything...tell them everything...be honest with everything....

Give them all the expereinces you can

Love them unconditionally....

Trust me it makes a WORLD of difference. I see it everyday.

Who's pretty?

Here i am with my "couch partner". I'm wearing my Delaware sweatshirt and grey pants and some sweet slippers. I'm still wearing these clothes from working out. Eww, i know, i'm a scumbag. Thats why Dan is sitting so far away. :) Here we sit on our couch where we have eternal butt prints each with a laptop on our laps and the remote between us....it's a fine life. :)

Inspired

Wow...ok who insspires me. Really, anyone who works hard and enjoys life inspires me, because thats what i strive for in life.

On a note of accomplishment, i passed my certification exam to be a Teacher of the Deaf. Weeeee!!!! Bring on the jobs! please....pretty please....with sugar on top....i promise i'll do a super good job. :)

BFF

Amanda has tasked me with talking about my best friend and my favorite memory with them. I have a hard time with the word best friend. I don't really have one. I mean yes...Dan is my "best friend" and if you want to know how i truly feel about him refer here. :)

But in talking about my best friend i feel I have MANY. These are the people that make me laugh, who i trust, who i can sit and watch tv with without saving to say a word, share a good meal with or even just call up for no reason other than jsut to say hi.

So now a memory....To be honest with you my favorite memory with all my best friends is yet to come. It's going to be on 10/10/09. Dan and I are getting hitched, and it's going to be my most favorite day ever...i get to marry my "best friend" and I get to have all of my best friends there with me. Can't wait...it's going to be one hell of a party.

I'm the winner!!!!

I don't even know what to say. Today I get to write about the founder of bufblopofo. Let's start with a little history...

Mike and I met in college. My sister had a small secret crush on him. And by small i mean enormous and by secret I mean everyone knew about it.

My first real memory of Mike was up at Annie's cottage in Canada. Lisa, Annie and I went up for the night to hang out. At about 11:30 that night a strange man was lurking outside of the cottage window. Lo and behold it was Mike Garvey. I don't know who invited him or how he found the cottage but there he was. We continued the evening with some quality conversation and a lot of beer.

At one point we were all out of beer and Lisa volunteered to go get more. About 20 minutes she had still not returned. Please note she did not have far to go...we were sitting right on the porch of the cottage. Mike, Annie and I decide to go in and investigate.

There she is. The queen of "I'm just going to close my eyes for a minute" asleep on the kitchen table. Apparently she decided to take a short nap before bringing us our beer. Lisa's actions enraged Annie and she immediately reprimanded her and sent her to bed. Lisa took the lashing and gladly went to bed. Loser. :)

So Annie, Mike and I got our beer and went back outside. I honestly don't remember the conversation but somehow we created a new saying "It's all biological". Annie and Mike may be the only two that will appreciate that.

When the time came we all went to bed....but there was a problem. Only one bed left and 3 of us. What do drunk people do in this situation? We use logic.

There we were the 3 of us in one bed. Head to feet. I was the lucky one in the middle with my head at the end of the bed with my feet at the head in both Annie and Mike's face. Why is this relevant? Because Annie's cottage is at the beach. My feet were full of sand. This my friends is how I got the nickname Sandy. The entire evening Mike apparently was sleeping on a very sandy pillow. heh heh...oops.

There you have it....Lisa....maybe you should not have fallen asleep on the kitchen table...cause guess what....I got to "sleep" with Mike Garvey first. :)

So to you Mike Garvey I ask you this.......What is it about the bow tie that so intrigues you?

Home away from home....

Today we are supposed to write about our first home away from the parental units...
Thinking about what to write in this post is hard.
....like my head hurts hard.
I have lived in a lot of places....

A LOT.

When I left my parents house at 17, to go to college, I had no idea what was ahead of me.

Between then (1998) and now....

I have lived in 4 different states (MA, MD, DE, NY)

2 dorm rooms

2 townhouse

3 apts (Buffalo, Amherst, Elmwood village)

4 houses (1 MA,2 DE, 1 NY)
and.....

are you ready?

28 roomates..... 28

My head hurts......too much math
What have i learned from all of these different places?
Apparently I cannot live in the same place for more than 1 year...
I'm super good at packing...and unpacking...
I can rent a killer moving truck...
and
I have racked up like $9,000,000 in change of address fees.
:)

Step by step....literally...

I have many skills...many unique skills i feel.

I can catch, handle and wash an Eagle
I can make a mean cupcake
I can maneuver the heck out of a chainsaw.

But let's get to the skill i find most helpful everyday. I am awsome at buying cool shoes. i love shoes and they love me in return. I pride myself in finding sweet and unique shoes for all occassions and for decent prices. Now i know the assignment was to walk you step by step through my skill...but i'm not sure i'm ready to give up my secrets. But I will pass along to those who are dedicated to the love of the shoe, some great websites i frequent.

In no particular order:

Please take your time...thats the key to successfully finding the sweetest shoe ever. These sites can be very overwhelming but be patient and only do a little at a time, trust me you will find your perfect shoe. Sometimes there is nothing more important in life than an awsome pair of shoes. :)

MMMMmmmmmmm....

I love food.

I love all kinds of food.

My favorite food is the food i can't get all the time. Seasonal food if you will. In random order these are the things i most look forward to all year.

March - Shamrock shake and cornedbeef and cabbage...not necessarily together

Summer - chocolate/vanilla custard twist with chocolate sprinkles

October - Apple cider and cinnamon strusel cake for my b-day...again not together

November - Thanksgiving dinner (Dark meat, mashed potatos, gramas stuffing and gramas green bean cassarole)

December - christmas cookies

Off the top of my head these are my favorite foods. Since i am deprived of these for the majority of the year...i feel that is why i crave them the most.

Dammit now i'm really hungry...let's see...according to my list...i better go get me some corned beef and a shamrock shake. :)

Let the games begin!

Here we are....Bufblopofo '09!!!! WEEEE!!!! What a good day to start it's 3-14...pi day! ok no more nerdy. Ok today i am supossed to write about 3 big things going on with me right now.

I will go on cronological order:

1. We got a Wii!!! Dan has been bugging me and bugging me and bugggggging me to get one. It's not that i didn't want one but it really just hasn't been in our budget. Everytime we go into a store Dan feels it is a sign from God if they have it in stock that we need to buy it. The final straw was last weekend when we were at Target and they had a bunch in stock. I swear we stood in front of the thing for 20 minutes weighing the pros and cons of getting it. I was about to give my final veto, when a 70 yr old gentleman approached us. He noticed our hesitation and boldly buttted in by saying...."It's completely worth it." I looked at he man....as said..he was about 70...long grey hair in a low ponytail....trucker hat...and holding about 16 bags of twizzlers. Dan responded to the man asking what he thought about the wii, and the man continued with a small dissertation about how much fun it is and how he is so glad he got it about a year and a half ago. Oh God.....cue the rolling commentary. Do I.....say thank you for the advice old guy and walk out of the store pretending to be a responsible adult....or listen to the old guy who is obviously cooler than I am and go home and have infinite fun? As we got into the car i told Dan he should thank the old guy for coming a long. It's the reason we bought the Wii....i feel like i should have some twizzlers in his honor. :) PS.....it's the best toy EVER!!!!!

2. I am coming up on the end of my 2 year masters degree. Thank you jesus! I have worked my arse off for the last year and a half going to school full time and putting in about 20 hours of work a week. Needless to say, i am ready to be done. In May I will graduate with my masters in Deaf Education with a certificaiton to teach children from birth to 21. I will also have my certification to teach Biology in grades 7-12. This is an ENORMOUS career change for me and i'm antsy to finish this semester so i can get started! Cross your fingers though, it a tough job market for teachers right now. Wish me luck, i think i'm gonna need it. :)

3. Not that this topic deserves to be #3 but as I said i wanted to go in order of events...and why not save the best for last. I'm getting married in less than 7 Months...21o days to be exact. We have all the big stuff done. Now we are ironing out the little stuff. I can't wait. It is going to be a sweet ass party! My current dilema is the flavor of frosting for the cakes. I'm not a huge fan of buttercream.....Any thoughts? WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

There you have it the first Bufblopofo post of '09. Can't wait to see what everyone else has goign on!

Katie...errrr Maeve...doesn't share food!

I was watching the girls the other day and decided I needed a snack. Knowing Maeve i made sure to bring her a snack too. It was baked cheetos for me and goldfish for maeve. I brought out the little cup of goodies and made sure it was clear that the goldfish were for her and the cheetos for me. We both went on our way and watched diego with our said snacks until I decided i wanted a goldfish. I asked Maeve if i could have one....she sweetly nodded probably thinking "she won't really do it". Sure enough I took a goldfish out of our community bowl and put it in my mouth. This next few seconds was in slow motion. Maeve went into blind rage. She initially screamed "noooooo" and sure as shit she thrust her hand into my mouth. INTO MY MOUTH! I'm not sure if she was trying to save the soldier or if she was just so mad that I ate one of her goldfish she wanted it back. Either way I was so surprised that she did that i immediatly broke out in laughter. Mistake number 2 on my part. Maeve got piiiiiissedd. This was no laughing matter. She starred my down with a look of death. I quickly compsed myself and told her I was very sorry and offered her one of my snacks. There was a period of akward silence between us as we watched the end of Diego. We both finished our snacks and went about the rest of our day together.

I have completely learned my lesson and I completely understand where she is coming from. It is now very clear that Katie AND Maeve don't share food. Just an FYI.

PS...yes that is a chip clip in her hair....she did it all by herself. :)
