Another cool release

An AMBI (american bittern) was released yesterday in NJ. We expected him to just kinda scurry out and find a hiding place but he proved to us that he was in better condition than we thought!

Kim Steininger released and took these photo's again with one of those lens' that cost more than my life. Super cool.

GHOW release

I thought i would use this opportunity to teach everyone a little something. As you can see in the title it says GHOW. That means great horned owl. Every bird has an abbreviation. For example a a crow is officially called an american crow so it's abb. is AMCR. and so on and so fourth. It's pretty similar to the word verification that you must decifer when trying to write a comment on some choice people's blogs. Check this out for the feeling and history of that theory. :)

OK anywhonow that we have had our daily lesson, there was a release of a GHOW last week and the pics are fun and i wanted to share them. Enjoy!

Yes we transport them in dog carriers...no such thing as wild bird carriers. Well at least i don't think so...anywho this way is cheaper!

He wants out!

A little disoriented and not so happy about the presence of people..

The BEST picture of the bunch. The peacocks are a little curious about this guy.

Look Rick....It's a bird parade! :)

The lady who took these pics is AMAZING...she gets the most incredible shots. I don't know how she gets some of them. Her lens must cost more than my life! Check out her gallery it's SO COOL!

Housewarming

Laura and i finally feel like we are settling in our new home. We almost have all of our furniture. The furniture we have has found it's home and we now can navigate in the dark and not kill ourselves on our way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The fridge is full of food. The stove has been used a lot. The oven too! (Thats only because of Laura) The fruit basket is full. We get mail in the mailbox with OUR names on it. It's really starting to feel like home.

We were talking about having a house warming and inviting all the work people and what not. I was a little excited to think that this party might mean that we get some fun housewarming gifts. I then hada little inner monologue saying...hmmm we really aren't in need of anything. We pretty much have everything and we don't have a huge space to work with. So if people ask what we need i don't know what i will tell them. What a quandry.

So i was walking around the house last night and i started to notice a theme. Let's see if you can pick up the theme and what we might be needing in out new house to make it complete.

Can anyone venture a guess? :)

A moment of silence for Tower Mechanics

I got an e-mail from Melissa one of my cape cod peeps. She sent us a story about the mechanic that we all used to take our cars to on Cape. Unfortunatly there was a fire early last week and there was significant damage.

We were all very sad to hear about the fire. The people who worked there were always so nice to us and they did wonderful work with our cars. Since we were poor mo-f-ers, and made $100 dollars a week, they were very generous and gave us very reasonable prices. They treated Quita very well....may she rest in peace.

OK now to the funny. Kate (Bumba) my oh so loved cape roomie who slept on top of me everynight (bunk beds) reminded us of an example of tower mechanic dedication. Bumba's car battery in her car died a lot and it made Bumba very very angry and sad. She finally sucked it up thinking she needed a new car battery for the 2nd time and took her car to Tower. The nice mechanic man did his once over and asked Bumba all very standerd questions. He then proceeded to get in Bumba's trunk, close it and had her turn the car off. Once this was done she let him out and he proceeded to tell Bumba she did not need a new battery. WOOHOOOO!! They just had to tweek her trunk light so it wouldn't stay on when she closed it. Hence the battery dying so much. BRILLIANT.

I now have a new standerd for my mechanics. Are you willing to shut yourself in my trunk to find out whats wrong with my car? No? Sorry, I won't be needing your service, i will be going elsewhere. A moment of silence for Tower mechanics. Your dedication will be missed. :)
