How's that picture for an opener!? Apparently our new trick is "Soooo Big". I can't WAIT to see it! It's killing me. Anywho, Happy Wednesday. I know Maeve looks a little special in that pic but i adore it. And look at her hands. I think she is going to be a dancer...she already has good form!!!!! We might need to work on her stage facial expressions though. :)

Sooooo it is official. Mama, I'm comin home. It has been an INCREDIBLY hard decision, but my heart is and will always be in b-lo. I am going to be going back to school and getting my masters and teaching certification. We all know how i despise school but you gotta do what you gotta do. I think it is the best decision for me and it will provide me with a stable supportive job that has tons of options and flexibility. I will NOT be giving up on my wildlife passion but i think i need to face reality and realize i personally cannot make a stable career out of it. This makes me very sad, but it does not mean i have to give it up. It just means I need to explore other options. :)

Something else i need to do that make me so happy that has been missing for so long...Performing. I miss the crap out of it. I know it's bad when i go to see shows and i can barely sit in my seat i'm so excited and jealous of those onstage. I literally work myself into a full on tizzy trying to regain my compusure and attempt to look like any other regular theater goer. Needless to say i'm excited to get back and to get working to get my 'perform' on.

I have a crazy couple of weeks coming up that are going to fly by. I am going to a wildlife conference in CA next week. It will be my first time on the west coast, for an amazing conference. I can't wait!! Then i will be traveling home for a bit for 2 weddings of 2 very close friends of mine. I will be flying back here for a second in a half and then it's game time. My oh so generous and pregnant sister and her husband have graciously offered to come down and move me home. I can't tell you how much this means to me. Lisa has never seen what I do and what I am passionate about. I can't wait to show off the fun things I do and hopefully pass off why this is such an incredibly hard thing to leave.

Thank you everyone for your support. This is going to be a tough transition for me and it is happening very fast so please bare with me. Don't get me wrong i can't wait to come home...I don't why i have been fighting the inevitable for so long. :)

Ok i want to leave on a funny note. We all know my affinity for funny t-shirts. I will never be too old to stop loving them. My favorite t-shirt website threadless tee's has just come out with a new shirt. It's called Gay Pride...and by god it's the most fabulous t-shirt ever!!! I'm not sure if you know the amount of gay men in my life right now...but i might buy every single one of them this shirt, cause it's that brilliant!!!

Weekend roundup

I had a really good weekend. It all started on friday when after work we had, what i have learned from veteren Delawarians, as a "porch night". This event consists of food, beer and friends. Really, does it get any better than that? Yeah, not really. It was a sweltering 95 degrees, so along with beer and burgers i thought it was appropriate to make frozen margharitas. I have attmepted this job before and it has turned out all right but this batch was some good ass sh*t. Good enough to make Mary Pat proud. It was great, as night fell the summer thunder rolled in and we had a great light show among the stickinees that was now 90 degrees. Over all, the night went off without a hitch and once it was dark enough where we couldn't see each other anymore or the mutant mosquitos that were eating us alive we called it a night. Did i mention there is a sh*t load of fireflies here in Delaware. We don't have those in the city of ruff-buff and i wish we did cause they are soooooo neat! So that was friday.

Saturday was a sleep in until you ABSOLUTLY have to get out of bed because you are going to wet your pants morning. It was a day full of catch up television, downloading whatever fun music and movies i can get my hands on...oh and taking naps (very important). I decided at about 7ish to get off my butt and go to the grocery store. Here is what was in my refridgerator that led me to this task: Jelly, cheese, and old cantelope. I couldn't even pretend to make a meal out of that, and I'm usually good at improvising. Why the long story about the trip to the grocery store you ask? Well....when i returned home with empty pockets and a soon to be full refridgerator, i noticed something was funny. As I unpacked, i came upon a bag of stuff that i destinctly rememeber NOT purchasing. I checked my receipt and double checked it...sure enough i didn't pay for these items. Here, ensues the moral dilema. As my sister put it..."well it was paid for...just not by you...so it's not stolen food". True, true Lisa. But lets just say the contents of this bag will make me very popular at our next cookout. Popular enough to feed 20 of my closest friends the main part of their meal. After consulting with my moral advisors and considering consequesnces I decided to do nothing. I tucked this food that the Grocery God has granted me away in a safe place, and will use it to feed others at social gatherings. I do not have much remorse over this decision, i will not be greedy and consume it for sole purpose only. I know my mother is getting ready to post a comment on how i should be attending confession right now, but we will see. Maybe this surplus of food was sent to me for a good reason. For example....what if there is a natual disaster and I am trapped in my house with someone who is severely anemic?! And i mean severely! Wanna know what...i might just be able to save this persons' life with the rations that i was given this weekend as a grocery miracle. And lets' say this was not meant to be a grocery miracle but a test of honosty....well i won't be surprised when i return from the grocery store in the future and I have nothing in my bags but carrots and circus peanuts. I will then understand that i failed the test. So that was saturday.

Okey Dokey...Sunday i got to go see the 3rd pirates of the carribbean movie. It was quacktastic. It was a little on the long side but looking back i would not have cut out a thing...it was all necessary and enjoyable storyline and footage. I made sure we went to a matinee so that i could make it home in plenty of time to see the Tony's. Even though i was only familiar with a few of the shows up for awards, it is ALWAYS an entertaining event. There were some incredible performances and well deserved awards presented throughout the evening. Unfortunatly that is not what will be the majority of my sunday post. After the awards the local news immediatly aired. What was the lead story...the LEAD story? It was about a local pizza shop owner who was in the finale of the Sopranos for .76 seconds!!! THAT WAS THE LEAD STORY. They spent a good 10 minutes on this. RIDICULOUS. Wanna know what the second and 3rd stories were? The second story was about a 2 yr old who was in his stroller on a walk with his grama and a car lost control and killed him. The 3rd story....The shooting in Wisconsin that killed 6 people and left a baby injured with a gsw to the chest. Yes prettybird readers...that was the local news. Thank god the late breaking information on the .76 seconds that the local pizza shop owner got on the Sopranos was aired...i was nervous it might be overshadowed by the other non-important things that are going on in the world right now.

Ok done and done...overall a great weekend. I'm really going to miss it here. Where am i going you may ask? Stay tuned...i'll get to that post in a few days. :)

The funny part of this story..... i was behind this woman for like 4 lights, and each time we stopped i tried to get a picture of this damn sticker. First i tried my camera phone, bad quality, gotta break out the big guns. Got the camera out....hmm...not close enough...inch closer....hold camera as far over dashboard as possible.....yesssssssss got it!

Being so proud ofmyself for getting a good pic i was smiling and laughing....all by myself. The light was long enough i could put the camera away and continue to jam to the radio tune. While singing at inappropriate levels with all windows open i glance at the car in front of me and see the woman driving GLARING at me.

What is the appropriate thing to do at this point you ask? Well, without a second thought i smiled and gave her a thunbs up.

Yep a thumbs up.

God only knows what she thinks of the crack head girl behind her who has been riding her tail for like 4 lights and is taking inappropriate pictures of the back of her car and now belting out an interesting broadway tune called "i speak six languages". PSYCHO!!!!!!

It's BABY SEASON!!!!!!!! No, not this kind of baby. But baby birds!!!!!!

A friend sent me this link recently that listed a whole lotta webcams....no worries not the dirty kind. The kind that watch nests. The especially cool ones are those that are a live streaming feed. I have a hard time staying interested in the ones that reload and refresh every 37 seconds. You can miss a whole heck of a lot in 37 seconds!!!!

Sooo if you happen to be having a slow day at work or if a certain something or someone has you awake at 2:34 in the morning check these out. They are fun. Let me just point out my personal favorite. It may or may not be up on my computer at work at all times when i need a small little baby fix. These are barn owls. SO COOL!!!! It's a mama and her 4 chicks. There is a bunch of previous footage below the camera too. I can't stand it they are so funny!

Other random news of the day....I have a headache that could kill a horse. Why you ask? Because in my delirium this morning when i was getting ready for work i knocked over a full...FULL bottle of purfume and it shattered on the floor. The good thing...no one was injured in this tragic event. The bad thing...I smell as if this is how i applied my smell of choice this morning.

Awsome.

OH AND.......Not many of you have seen my backyard but it's really great. Good sunage, great deck, and killer privacy. Ask me why i haven't been able to use it, or why i will not get to take advantage of it this summer? Go on....ASK!

Because i have these..... A bajillion of these!

These insects are so graciously called carpenter bees. Luckily the males donot have stingers and will not harm you....per say. But they swarm and they fight eachother and knock into my windows. They have made a feast of my backyard deck and awning. They actually dig holes in the wood where they ley their eggs. Bees that can dig holes in wood?! What is that nonsense?

I bet they are an incredibly interesting species and i have much to learn from them, but i want to use my backyard! Since they do not have stingers their way of fighting off preditors or other male bees is flying at them full force and running into them! I walk out my back door and i instantly have the eyes of 50+ wood bees on me, wondering if i am going to invade their nests. I WON'T...I just want to read my book in the sun and get a tan!!!!! I promise i won't even LOOK at the 5 million holes you have put in my deck. I PROMISE! So needless to say I'm not a huge fan of the bees at this point in time.

This is that night...i apprarently had the baby that afternnoon and was back to normal by 8pm. Mom and I decided to pretend we made this beautiful sandcastle and claim it as our own.

I was just trying to get some better pics of the pelicans. I decided to kneel and get better perspective....mom caught me on the way down....awsome!

Apparently MP was feeling punchy at dinner one night and instead of taking an adorable picture of Maeve with her papa....she took a picture of the inside of my freakishly large nostril.

OK so two oil spills and a vacation have put me in a lazy blog mode. I know your saying...

"you're on vacation and you can't find time to blog!?!"

PS this is where i almoswt acceped a job 2 years ago. I'm very glad i didn't due to the current job i have, but damn i would have been the tannest person EVER!

Ok it's wednesday...almost friday but just as close to monday...i hate that!

Work has been insane! I know that is usually my excuse but this time i mean it. It looks like the first free weekend i have is July 28th. Anyone wanna hang out? :)

Anywho, some funsies for your day.....

Thing 1:

Go to Google Maps type in "New York, New York to Paris, France". Scroll down and pay special attention to #23 of the directions. Pure genius. It was a long day at google when they were finishing up this program and just couldn't help themselves. I adore it!

We got some great news and incredible publicity thanks to Disney!! The picture is again from our incredible volunteer Kim. The program is explained under the pic and our story is on the right side of the pic.

Thing 3:

Did i mention it has been really busy at work. Sometimes i just need a few minutes to de-stress while at work...Merri really helps me out with that!

People are funny!

I love a good laugh at work in the middle of the day....I was cruising around for one on the internet today and i found one....actually i found more than one...it was a 2-for-1 day. I love those kinds of days.

So i found a few sites that a husband and wife run. Each have their own site where they draw and post a comic each day. They also have a site where they take old pictures and write funny captions to them...also updated daily...I love a good daily update!

I NEEDED to post some of their stuff for you all to enjoy....i was laughing so hard at work today that i had to pretend i was coughing sometimes to make sure no one became suspicious....I just couldn't keep the giggles silent!
